The Kodesh (Holy) Spirit

In the 25th Chapter of Matthew, Yahshua tells the parable of the 10 Virgins; 5 foolish and 5 Wise. How the wise took oil with them but the foolish did not. How  when the bridegroom came, the wise had oil for their lamps but the foolish did not. Here, the oil is a "type" of the Kodesh Spirit. The oil has represented the Kodesh Spirit all through the scriptures. The kodesh oil was poured on the high priest, when he was consecrated, and it was poured on men through the bible, especially the anointing of kings.

The Kodesh Spirit is 'typed' with other things; wind is one of them (see John 3:8). Yahshua says that the wind blows where it listeth, you can hear the sound, but you can’t tell where it comes from, so is every one that is born of the spirit. Another is Acts 2:2 - "And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them cloven tongues like as fire, and they set on each of them. And they each were filled with the Kodesh Spirit, and began to speak in other tongues, as the SPIRIT GAVE THEM UTTERANCE".

The thing that was happening here, was the Spirit  doing the talking, in many languages. Those in Jerusalem could hear them glorifying Yahweh in the language that they were familiar with, each in his own native tongue. What was going on was each person was prophesying, by the Spirit that had just entered them. When the people said that these men were drunk, Peter stood up and said "these are not drunk as you are saying, but this is that, that the prophet Joel had said "In the last days I shall pour out my Spirit (Oil) upon all flesh and your sons and your daughters will prophesy".

I must stop here and talk a little about prophesying . The word is used for three things that are closely related:

  1. Is the foretelling of the future,
  2. Is preaching the word of Yahweh.
  3. Is the spoken word of praise, out of the mouth of a man or woman, by the unction of the Kodesh Spirit, in which the Kodesh Spirit does the actual talking.

So when the scripture says all will prophesy it does not mean we will foretell the future, or preach the Gospel, but that the Kodesh Spirit will actually speak through our mouth, the praises of Yahweh. This is not a new thing.  Look at Num. 11 :25 -29 where Yahweh takes the Spirit (Kodesh Spirit) that is on (in) Moses, and places it on (in) the Seventy Elders "and they prophesied and did not cease".  Look at Luke 1:41-55 where Mary and Elizabeth, both being full of the Kodesh Spirit, prophesy, speaking out the wonderful works of Yahweh in their native tongue.  Also when Zacharias was filled with the Kodesh Spirit he likewise prophesied saying (in his native tongue) "Blessed be Yahweh Master of Israel ; for he hath visited and redeemed his people...." again the Kodesh Spirit is speaking through him as a sign that the Kodesh Spirit has entered him - Luke 1:67-79.

Not always does a person have to be living right to have the Kodesh Spirit speak through him. A couple of examples are Balaam, in Num. Chap. 22, 23, 24 - the Kodesh Spirit spoke through him, and even his donkey at one time.  And King Saul in 1 Sam. 10 : 20-24 also prophesied as he was searching for David to kill him, and his men that he sent looking for him also prophesied once they came where the man of Yahweh, Samuel, was.  Another good example is in John 11:49-52 when the high priest prophesied of Yahshua, not knowing what he was saying, but spoke by the Kodesh Spirit.

So we see here that not only as a sign of the infilling of the Spirit, but even when the Kodesh Spirit fell on evil men they prophesied (crying out the wonderful works of Yahweh in their native tongue) as the Spirit took over their mouth and spoke through them.  Lets look at Acts 19:1-6 ".... and when they were baptized in the name of the Messiah Yahshua, Paul laid his hands on them and the Kodesh Spirit came on them and they SPOKE IN TONGUES and PROPHESIED.   Here we see a little something different - they spoke in tongues also and no one said "we hear them speaking in our own language." Here they first spoke in another language, then interpreted it, by the power of the Kodesh Spirit. This brings us to another question, what about this tongue thing?

In Acts 2:2-4 we see the people speaking in several different languages that they themselves did not understand, but the people who heard them speak, heard them in their own tongue.  So after all this we see that when the Kodesh Spirit enters a person, something should happen that even other people, standing around, should be able to see or hear.  In Acts Chap. 8 Philip had went down to the people of Samaria and preached to them. They were baptized in the name of Yahshua Messiah. Then Peter and John went down and laid their hands on them and they received the Kodesh Spirit.  Something had to have happened at that time, for Simon the Sorcerer tried to buy the gift, so that when he laid his hands on people they would receive the Kodesh Spirit.   Peter told him that he could not buy the gift of Yahweh ( the laying on of hands).   Remember he did not try to buy the Kodesh Spirit, but the power of giving it to others.

I think that too many times people are deceived into thinking that because they have repented, as far as they know how, and have been baptized in the name of Yahshua Messiah, yet have not had Yahweh speak through them that they have already received the Kodesh Spirit.  I think we need to reexamine the situation. I don’t think that Yahweh is going to deal with us any different than He did with the early believers.  What happened to them and the ones before them has to happen the same way to us.  Remember Acts 2 : 17-21 "..... And on my servants and on my handmaids I will pour out in those days of my Spirit and they shall PROPHESY".  And so we shall.

The Kodesh Spirit is said to be how we are sealed until our day of redemption - Eph 4: 30, also Eph 1:13 ".. Messiah in whom you also trusted .......you were sealed with that Kodesh Spirit of promise".    2Cor 1:22 - "Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts".  We must be sealed.  I look to Revelation Chapter 7:1-8 for answers.

In the 7th Chapter of Revelation we find that there are four angels posed ready to cause great destruction upon the world, especially the Babylon the Great Empire, the last day merchant incarnation of that great city, upon the world. This Babylon also contains a large portion of the tribes of Israel, under the heading of Ephraim (Eze. 37) But just before these four angels strike the earth, comes one (or maybe two) angel from the east saying "do no harm till (we) have sealed the servants of Yahweh in their foreheads" (with the Kodesh Spirit).   So One Hundred Forty Four Thousand are sealed of THE TRIBES OF ISRAEL.

John also sees a vision of many other people of all nations, kindred and tongues, standing before the throne, but this does not say they were sealed just before the great destruction.  It does say they washed their robes white in great tribulation. (The destruction of angels of Yahweh and the tribulation two different things.)  It just says he saw them standing before the throne. These, I believe, are the early believers of the first century who were killed for teaching in the name of Yahshua.

Circumcision is a type of Repentance, and baptism in Water, and the Kodesh Spirit (Rom 2:29, Phil 3:3, Col 2: 10-13 and Col 3:11 just to name a few). Remember that the Kodesh Spirit is considered the Seal of Yahweh (2Cor 1:22, Eph. 1:13, and Eph. 4:30).  These Two Witnesses that seal the servants of Yahweh in their forehead are the same as the two olive trees in Zechariah, 4th Chapter, that through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil "OUT OF THEMSELVES" and seal the 144,000 just before great destruction. The whole point is that the Kodesh Spirit is not a dumb spirit, as many think.  It is able to speak, and does speak when people receive the indwelling (The Kodesh Spirit living in a person).  I have given several examples where the Kodesh Spirit has spoken, either in another tongue, or in the person’s native tongue. Does the Kodesh Spirit speak to you or through you?

Yahshua said it, and I believe it, that every one who is born of the spirit, and you will be able to hear a sound, but won’t be able to tell where it comes from. We are told today that if we become a believer and are baptized , then we receive the Kodesh Spirit. This does not match with the scriptures. Then we see a bunch of people that claim to be receiving the Kodesh Spirit by speaking in tongues, a tongue that no one can understand. I have had much experience with these people. I do not say that all that claim to have the Kodesh Spirit in them are fake, but I have seen enough of it that is, that I know what I’m talking about. I think that many of these people are deceived into thinking that they are filled with the Kodesh Spirit (Kodesh Ghost as it is called in the King James version of the Bible).

Much that I have observed in the Pentecostal Churches is that they have an altar service, to tarry for the Kodesh Ghost, usually people who have been convicted, or scared in to seeking something from Yahweh. They usually get down and pray for a little while, and are encouraged by people who are supposed to be praying with them to cry out to "The Lord".  I have seen some tell the seekers to say "Jesus" over and over until they are talking in tongues. I have seen some say it over and over as fast as they can until the words began to sound like another tongue. Then the person is told that they have the "Kodesh Ghost".

More recently I have observed that they do it another way. A person, usually a minister, will stand in front of the person desiring to be filled with the Kodesh Spirit, and speak in tongues, and encourage the person to say what they are saying, thus teaching them to speak in tongues, then telling them the have received the "Kodesh Ghost".

Please don’t get me wrong, I believe there is a heavenly tongue, and believe that it is possible to receive the gift of tongues, and the gift of interpretation of tongues.   But I don’t believe that the gift of tongues is the evidence that a person has received the infilling of the Kodesh Spirit. I believe there is an evidence of it, and the evidence is the Kodesh Spirit speaking through a person, by prophecy, as I have given several examples so far.

Now for the gift of tongues 1Cor 14:2 says that he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto man but unto Yahweh, for no man understands him. Now if this was the same thing that was happening in Acts Chap 2 then some men would be able to understand what was being said, for they would hear them in their own languages if it was the same thing, but here it says that the person talking in the Unknown tongue. (Much is made of the fact that the word Unknown is written in italics, but you must remember that the translators are aware of the fact that the scripture says that no man can understand what is said, so they quite naturally put in the word Unknown).  For no doubt the person that is speaking in this tongue is speaking in the tongue that Paul mentions in 1Cor 13:1 when he says "tongues of men and angels" which is the heavenly language that the Spirit gives unto man.

I have wondered in the past about speaking in a language that I myself do not understand what I’m saying; I took this to Yahweh, and he told me that my vocabulary is not sufficient to praise him the way he wants to be praised. But the Kodesh Spirit speaking through me is sufficient. 1 Cor. 14:14 - "For if I pray in an Unknown tongue my (The) Spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful (to my understanding) but not to Yahweh.

Now if I came into the assembly on the Sabbath and began to pray and sing and preach in the heavenly language then every one would think I was crazy.  But if I pray and sing and preach in a language that all there can understand, then I will be a help to those who have come to worship Yahweh. The only way it can be done is through his son Yahshua.

Now for another very important part of the message on the Kodesh Spirit - the laying on of hands for the infilling of the Kodesh Spirit. In the 14th chapter of John, Yahshua said that whosoever believes on him shall do the works that he has done, AND GREATER WORKS WILL HE DO. Now what greater work did the Apostles do than what Yahshua did. The answer, Yahshua never laid his hands on a person to have them receive the Kodesh Spirit and begin to prophesy.

But the apostles did. As a mater of a fact this is the way the Kodesh Spirit was given after the day of Pentecost. On the day of Pentecost there was tongues of fire that went around and touched each one of them. As this happened each one of them began to prophesy of the wonderful works of Yahweh, in tongues that the people in Jerusalem that High Kodesh Day, could hear in their own native language in which they were born.

But how about the people of Acts Chapter 10 - the household of Cornelius, the Roman centurion? The scriptures say that while Kepha (Peter) was speaking to them The Kodesh Spirit "fell" on them and they began to speak in tongues and magnify Yahweh (Prophesy).  The scripture is silent here about hands being laid on them. But if we look a little farther to where Kepha (Peter) was telling the brethren what had happened there, he says (Acts 11:15-18) that it happened to "the gentiles as on us at the beginning". (Acts 2:2-4) the tongues of fire from Heaven.

Most people who consider themselves to be believers today, do not believe in receiving the Kodesh Spirit the way the scriptures teach, but, because they do not understand it and have seen Satan’s counterfeit so many times, are happy just to believe they have it anyway.

I cry within myself to see people living in darkness, being deceived, some keeping Yahweh’s Law but not experiencing the fulfillment of the Spirit in their lives, and others filling the Spirit in their worship, but refusing to keep Yahweh’s Laws.

The Scripture says that "The testimony of Yahshua is the Spirit of Prophecy" Rev. 19:10, and says in Rev. 12:17 that the last day remnant will "Keep the Commandments of Yahweh, and have the testimony of Yahshua" ( the Spirit of Prophecy).

Most High Heavenly Father I ask that you put your seal upon this work, that whosoever reads this will have their eyes opened to your Spirit, and your will, that all of us will receive the full anointing and infilling of your (Holy) Kodesh Spirit. In the Name of Yahushua our only hope, the Messiah. HALLELUYAH!.
